The Gillion-Crowet Collection: A 'Dation' at the Heart of Brussels’ Museum Policy
Lecture by Pascale Ingelaere (Urban Brussels)
In 2006, the Brussels-Capital Region acquired the Gillion-Crowet collection, composed of 230 emblematic works of Belgian and French Art Nouveau. Since 2013, this collection has been presented to the public through the Fin-de-Siècle Museum and has traveled to major European institutions. The temporary closure of the museum for renovation offers an opportunity to rethink regional museum policy. Why has the Region embraced this theme? What are the challenges ahead? How does Maison Hannon fit into this dynamic? And above all, how can we build together an ambitious and coherent museum vision?
The lecture will be followed by a visit to the exhibition Echoes of Dreams, exploring these issues and highlighting works from the collection.
Lecture in French.
