SAVE THE DATE: Inauguration of the Maison Hannon in 2023
We are proud to announce that the Maison Hannon will open its doors as a house-museum to the public on June 1, 2023: an opportunity for all to discover the aesthetic universe of the Belgian-French couple Édouard Hannon and Marie Debard, who commissioned the house.
By the time of the opening, the rooms on the first floor will have been restored: the salon, the reception room and the stairwell will have been returned to their original glory. On the first floor, the exhibition "Belgians Art Nouveau" will present Belgian Art Nouveau in all its diversity. Visitors will be able to see works by artists such as Paul Hankar, Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, Henry van de Velde. The exhibition will run from June 1, 2023, to June 5, 2024, with the Ghent Design Museum as the main partner.
The Hannon House had not been accessible since 2014, when the Espace Contretype (center for contemporary photography, now located in the Cité Fontainas), which had occupied the premises since 1988, left. For the opening, numerous restoration works were undertaken and are still ongoing in order to restore this iconic place to its original glory.
In anticipation of its inauguration on June 1, 2023, the Maison Hannon is offering a tour of the restoration site on Sundays, January 15 and 22: an opportunity to go behind the scenes of a restoration with a guide and a craftsman, to understand what is at stake, but above all, to preview one of the masterpieces of art nouveau. Reservations are required, subject to availability.
