Natural Fibers Workshop

06 & 07.06.26 — 10:00 à 17h00

Held alongside the exhibition Artisanal Intelligence at the Maison Hannon, KNOTTO invites natural fibre specialist Bert Blancke of Fiberschool for a two-day workshop on the foraging and processing of local plant fibres in the garden of the Maison Hannon.

The workshop combines field knowledge with hands-on craft practice. Participants will learn to identify, harvest and process a selection of local plants — focusing on nettle (Urtica dioica) and bast fibres willow (salix) and linden (tilia) — and explore the three core principles of fibre extraction: mechanical, chemical and organic processing, techniques that humans have relied on for thousands of years to make textiles, rope and nets.

On the first day, participants will go on a guided forage through Brussels before processing their harvested materials. The second day is dedicated to rope-making and net-making, where participants will work with their processed fibres to develop their own project.

Dates: 6 & 7 June — 10AM to 5PM
Fee: €200 for 2 days
Language: English
Where: The workshop takes place in the garden of Maison Hannon, Brussels
