From Home to Heritage

From 25 April 2026, the Maison Hannon presents its new exhibition From Home to Heritage.

The exhibition invites visitors to look beyond the building’s unmistakeable façade and learn the winding story hidden behind it. Although the house is recognised as heritage today, it narrowly escaped destruction after its first occupants moved out.

This Art Nouveau masterpiece endured years of neglect and abandonment before eventually being acknowledged as heritage. During that time, the house gradually shifted from an intimate private residence to a public space with a new life as a museum.

From Home to Heritage traces this evolution and reflects on the questions it raises. What allows a place to become heritage, and how can it be shared thoughtfully? Preserving what remains, restoring what has been lost and  opening the site to new interpretations are all part of this ongoing process; one in which visitors are warmly invited to engage.
