Heritage days : From Home to Heritage

As part of the Heritage Days in the Brussels, the Maison Hannon will open its doors to the public for free from 10 AM to 12 PM, by advance reservation only.

This year’s theme, Our Landscape, Our Heritage, invites us to take a fresh look at the urban landscapes that shape our daily lives. More than just an isolated monument, the Maison Hannon is an emblematic feature of the Saint-Gilles landscape. For over a century, its distinctive silhouette has been part of the neighborhood’s identity and bears witness to the artistic ambition that shaped Brussels’ development in the late 19th century. Heritage is not limited to remarkable buildings; it also consists of cultural landmarks that give meaning to the city and contribute to its collective memory.

This reflection ties in with the questions explored in the exhibition From Home to Heritage. How does a home designed for a family become a shared heritage site? How can we preserve a place while keeping it lively and accessible? What stories do we choose to pass on to future generations?

Through this exhibition, the Maison Hannon invites visitors to explore the various steps that led to its preservation and recognition as a heritage site.
