Give each other a kiss under the mistletoe

The expression ‘Au gui l'an neuf’, inherited from distant Celtic traditions, evokes good fortune and commitment. This symbol of prosperity and renewal had a special place in Art Nouveau, particularly in Nancy, where it embodied the harmony between nature and art. These themes were dear to the artists of the École de Nancy, such as Émile Gallé, who incorporated motifs such as the mistletoe into their creations.
